"V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money, and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM), and sex slavery" (Vday.org).

"Every year V-Day invites activists in colleges, communities, high schools, or youth groups around the world to present select benefit events during and leading up to V-Season (February 1–April 30). The purpose of these events is to raise awareness about violence against women and girls as well as raise money (100% of the proceeds must be donated) for local beneficiaries that are working to end violence" (eveensler.org).
The phenomenal playwright, Eve Ensler, created The Vagina Monologues after interviewing hundreds of women about a topic we don't regularly get to speak about; our vaginas. She transformed these poignant interviews into what we know as "the monologues."

One Billion Rising is the biggest mass action to end violence against women in human history. The campaign, launched on Valentine’s Day 2012, began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS.

The Vagina Monologues were originally created by Eve Ensler in 1996. Eve interviewed hundreds of different women about their vaginas; their responses were used to create the show! Each monologue deals with different aspects of femininity, many of which are taboo in day to day life. The show is about the empowerment of women as well as creating a safe space to learn and think about what it means to be a woman.
All proceeds go to a local charity, The Center for Community Solutions, that works to end violence against women and girls.
